"Contrary to what the media has reported, the party held on Tuesday night was nothing but an internal affair meant for teachers and staff members only. The school didn't close for two days to host a private party. KR Mangalam usually hosts annual function every year. This year we didn't have one. Instead, each class is preparing its own annual presentation. So the two-day holiday was only meant for students who are not participating in the programmes. So Class X and XII practical examinations and rehearsal for the programme were going on as usual even while the school was closed," said Medha Rajpal, an administrative staff member of the school.

The party was allegedly held on Tuesday night. School principal Meenu Goswami did not take calls or respond to the SMSes sent by HT.

Residents of the area confirmed that a party was held. "In the last two days, there has been disturbance because of celebrations. A huge tent was erected and there was loud music. It seemed like a wedding," said Kshitij Kumar, a resident of GK-II.

The Delhi Government education department said that it would take action only if it gets a report from the zonal officer. "We cannot take action since we have not received a single complaint about the school holding a private party yet," said education director Chandra Bhushan Kumar.
