Pickpockets target retd cop in Blueline

A retired sub-inspector with Delhi Police was robbed of Rs 27,000 in a moving Blueline bus on Monday. The incident took place around 10.30 a.m. in the Sabzi Mandi area in North Delhi.

This is a second incident of robbery in a moving bus in the past week. Unidentified assailants were involved in a similar case a few days back in Sarai Rohilla in the same area.

According to police, Balwant Singh, a retired sub-inspector with the Delhi Police, was on his way to Old Delhi railway station when the incident took place.

The incident took place near Roshanara Bagh area near Sabzi Mandi police station. The victim had earlier boarded a bus of route number 127 plying between Haiderpur and Old Delhi railway station, from Pratap Nagar area.

“Balwant Singh was carrying the cash in his pocket. While approaching Roshanara Bagh he realized that his money had been stolen. It was then that he made a PCR call and alerted the authorities,” said a senior police officer.

After retirement, the sub-inspector had been living in Kingsway camp. On Sunday night, Balwant Singh was heading to the Old Delhi station to hand over money to one of his relatives.

Authorities at the Sabzi Mandi police station registered a case of pick pocketing.
