The recommendations of the Sonia Gandhi-led National Advisory Council (NAC) on a National Food Security law will now be vetted by another panel.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh set up a committee under C Rangarajan, head of the PM’s economic advisory council, to look into the NAC draft.
Singh asked the panel to send its comments by December 20, a member said after the NAC discussed the draft framework of the bill that aims to provide differential legal entitlements of foodgrains.
"It's strange that the NAC recommendations are being vetted by another committee," said Kavita Srivastava of Right To Food campaign, which protested against the NAC’s minimalistic recommendations on the proposed law on October 23.
The NAC will now consider how to bring the entire SC and ST population under the proposed law.
