PM says open to Rahul Gandhi succeeding him

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said, according to local media, that he did not object to Rahul Gandhi succeeding him but said no such discussions were currently taking place within the ruling party.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said, according to local media, that he did not object to Rahul Gandhi succeeding him but said no such discussions were currently taking place within the ruling party.

Singh, in a meeting with editors on Wednesday, dismissed suggestions that he was a lame duck prime minister. He said a government reshuffle was in the works, but gave no further details.

Singh also said he expected inflation, the highest of a major Asian economy, was expected to moderate by March next year.
