Here is another lesson in humility from one of the most powerful men in the country — Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Singh’s driving licence was close to expiry and he simply decided to turn up in person to get the document renewed.

He visited the motor licensing office in IP Estate on Sunday afternoon to get his driving licence renewed.

The licensing office was especially opened on Sunday, a day when the staff usually does not work. But the transport officials who were pressed into service were not complaining. Many, in fact, felt the PM’s visit was nothing short of a message for people who try to avoid queuing up in government offices.

“The Prime Minister visited the office with his wife, Gursharan Kaur, and got their driving licences renewed,” said a transport department official.
