Citing absence of effective laws to manage traffic, Delhi Police on Saturday said the situation on city's roads could worsen if penalties for driving offences were not increased and the process of issuing licence was not improved.

According to a message posted by JCP (traffic) Satyendra Garg on traffic police's Facebook page, steps that could have improved the Capital's traffic situation have "not come through".

"It has been more than two years for me in traffic police and things, which could have an impact in improving traffic situation are not coming through," posted Garg.
