The day Vishwanathan was shot dead in her car, there was a birthday party at a five-star hotel in the vicinity. The Close Circuit Television (CCTV) camera installed at the hotel reveals guests left the hotel around 3.30 am on September 30, around the same time Vishwanathan was found dead.

“We have got the CCTV recordings installed at the hotels’ porch. The recordings reveal that a party was on in full swing at the hotel till 3.30 am. We have collected information about the partygoers of that night and are questioning them. We have asked the hotel authorities and the party’s host to provide us details about the people who were present there,” said a senior police officer.

Vishwanathan was found murdered in her car on Nelson Mandela Marg when she was returning home from her office at Jhandewalan in central Delhi.

What earlier appeared to be an accident, the case has the investigators still groping for clues.

Police said Vishwanathan was shot dead by a .315 bore country made revolver, generally used by “hardened criminals.”

Police said though they have found some witnesses, they have not been of much help. Police have also got the CCTV grab of the parking lot at Vasant Vihar Priya Complex. “So far we have questioned more than 100 people whose presence was found in the area on the day of the murder,” said the officer.
