There is a strong resemblance between the bomb used in the Mehrauli blast on Saturday and those recovered from two Bangladeshi nationals in Bengal’s Jalpaiguri in July, investigators say.

Experts who defused these bombs said these would have exploded when “the chemical used came in contact with air”. In Saturday’s blast, too, the bomb exploded “when chemicals reacted with the air, scattering nails and blades,” said an officer requesting anonymity.
Police in July arrested Yessin Muhammad (25) and Muhammed Majruddin (42) and recovered five crude bombs from them. Bangladeshi national Mohammad Ansar allegedly trained them, police said.
“The two are in jail. We’d seek their remand again on Monday in light of the new findings,” a senior officer said.
The West Bengal Police, however, said the two were wanted for robbery. “A Delhi Police team did come here. We don’t know if they were involved in planting bombs,” said Raj Kanaujia, IGP, West Bengal Police.
