Police to quiz unsuccessful allottees as well

After sending out questionnaires to “successful general category allottees” of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) housing scheme 2008, police plan to quiz unsuccessful candidates as well.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) would soon question these candidates. “We don’t want to leave any aspect of the case,” said a senior police officer.

Meanwhile, police took Vijay Patanjali, the property dealer arrested three days ago, to Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu for verification. Patanjali had accompanied Suresh Kumar, another property dealer who is absconding and Deepak Kumar, the whistleblower who was arrested, to Rajasthan to collect the details of Scheduled Tribe (ST) people.

“We would be confronting the accused with the successful allottees who are also our complainant in the case,” said the officer. Police said they had raided several of Patanjali’s hideouts but did not find much evidence. “We fear most of these documents have been destroyed, but we have other documents as well to prove his involvement,” said the officer.

Six people have been arrested so far including ML Gautam, a retired DDA clerk.
