Power woes set to ease as east Delhi gets a new 50 MVA sub-station

To ensure uninterrupted water supply in east Delhi and other parts of the city, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated a new grid sub-station at Sonia Vihar in north-east Delhi on Thursday.

The 50 MVA grid sub-station, constructed at a cost of R21 crore, will cater to one of the most densely populated areas of Delhi and will provide relief to over one lakh customers in the area.

“We will ensure uninterrupted power supply in unauthorised colonies. There won't be long power cuts in unauthorised colonies,” said Dikshit while dedicating the grid sub-station of BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL).

Dikshit said the grid would help in meeting the long-standing demands of residents and commercial establishments of the area.

“The power situation has improved in Delhi. But since there is less generation of electricity here, we should all strive to conserve electricity to the maximum extent possible,” added the chief minister.
