Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee intends to retire from active politics once the UPA’s current tenure ends.

“I will be 79. Perhaps that is the time to take a little bit of rest,” he said, responding to a question at the Hindustan Times summit on Friday. “I’ll go to my study where I have collected a large number of books I did not have the time to read,” he added.
