A legislation to make much easier the removal procedure of the public broadcaster Prasar Bharti CEO and other senior officials will be introduced in the forthcoming session of parliament later this month.

According to information and broadcasting minister Ambika Soni, said a GOM, a parliamentary standing committee and the Shunglu panel set up to look into CWG scam had given certain suggestions for better supervision of Prasar Bharti.
"Under the present Act, there can be no supervision. There is no contact. So keeping all those things in mind, we have put together some amendments in the present act and have sent it in the form of a cabinet note," Soni told a news agency.
At present, as per the Prasar Bharati Act, 1990, chairman, CEO and members can only be removed after the President makes a reference to the SC for a roeb into alleged misbehaviour.
