President accepts resignation of Ramesh

President Pratibha Patil accepted the resignation of Jairam Ramesh, who quit from the Union Council of Ministers, following recommendation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

President Pratibha Patil on Wednesday night accepted the resignation of Jairam Ramesh, who quit from the Union Council of Ministers, following recommendation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The President, as advised by the Prime Minister, has accepted the resignation of Ramesh from the Council of Ministers with immediate effects, a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said.

Ramesh, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Power, on Wednesday quit from the Ministry to devote fully to Congress campaign for Lok Sabha elections as part of a strategy drawn up by the party.

Ramesh represents Andhra Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha.

An AICC Secretary, Ramesh is on the “Future Challenges Group” of the AICC which has Rahul Gandhi as its member.
