The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) will review the hiring process and address regional aspirations and problems witnessed during recruitment in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Assam, Banerjee told the Rajya Sabha.

The vacancies will be filled once the review is over, she added. The railways have a total sanctioned strength of nearly 15.67 lakh, the minister said. The bulk of the vacancies are in the two lower grades, while the top two grades have about 1,500 vacant posts
