Sources said that Rajkumar was in touch with the investigators over the phone and was willing to join their investigation till Thursday. But he suddenly switched off his mobile phone and is currently untraceable. The police are now questioning his wife.

The police are also questioning Laxmi and Manoj, the two people who are part of the chain through which the baby girl had come to Rajkumar and eventually to the 14-year-old girl.

It was this girl, presently undergoing counselling at a child care centre, who had admitted the baby at AIIMS on January 18.

Munni, who is considered as the last link in the chain established till now, is still missing.

Investigators claimed that Rajkumar would be nabbed soon and that they have definite clues about his whereabouts. But the question is, why didn't they keep a track of him if they were in touch with him all this while.

Also, the Delhi Police did not ask their counterparts in Mumbai to keep a watch on Rajkumar, despite him being at his in-laws' place in Mumbai for some time.

"We have learnt from the girl, who was sexually abused by Rajkumar, that they shifted to another accommodation in Mahipalpur later," said a police officer.
