This move comes after the recent serial bomb blasts and the continued threat perception in the city.

“Vehicles will not be allowed to park for about 100 metres around the Ramlila venues. We are even training volunteers to search and frisk people,” said Karnal Singh, joint commissioner of police (northern range).

Delhi Police personnel would monitor the CCTV recordings and the footage would be stored for future use also.

“We have formed quick reaction teams. Every venue will have double access points and entry and exit points will be secured with police personnel,” said Sagarpreet Hooda, DCP (north).

In a meeting on Tuesday, Commissioner of Police YS Dadwal reviewed the security measures with Ramlila committee organisers.

Police said they have asked organisers to give photo ID cards to artists and volunteers and get them verified from the local police station. “We have issued strict guidelines to organisers to ensure the number of visitors do not surpass the number of passes issued,” said Singh.

Delhi Traffic Police has also chalked out a traffic plan for the Ramlila venues and there would be restriction on the entry of vehicles on certain roads.
