This was a request made by Delhi Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal to the media.

The reason? He said it gave a distorted impression of India’s Capital to foreigners.

“Tourists from Western countries where the incidents of crime may be more than in Delhi develop a rather distorted notion about the law and order scene in the city,” said Dadwal in an affidavit filed in the Delhi High Court.
