The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Tuesday said there are as many as 35 schools that are running without valid recognition.

These schools function within an area of 200 square metres and had applied for recognition in 2006.
"However, before we could give recognition, the provisions of Master Plan were enforced in 2007," MCD education committee's chairperson Mahender Nagpal said.
As per fresh provisions, it can recognise only those schools which have a minimum area of 800 square metres.
"We had written to the Urban Development Ministry on the issue but it has not responded yet," Nagpal said after the weekly meeting of the education committee.
"We now plan to give green signal to those schools which are run in three special zones (City zone, Sadar-Paharganj zone and Karol Bagh zone) where the provisions of the Master Plan are not applicable," he said.
He also said, "We will forward these proposals to the ministry and ask them to decide about the rest."
