The BJP told the government good relations should be maintained with China but one should not forget the “hard lessons of 1962.” It wanted the government to come out with the “real truth” on the disputed border, the extent of the Chinese incursion into the Indian territory.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, BJP deputy leader in Rajya Sabha, said, “Some very serious questions have arisen on the China issue. There is concern and anger in the country. Everyone has tried to maintain good relations with China. But we should not forget the hard lessons of 1962.”
He said, “We would urge upon the government of India to come with clear facts. Our advice to the government is take the nation into confidence, take the political parties into confidence, and they are willing to support. But please don’t suppress hard truth under the carpet.”
Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Prakash Javadekar, BJP members of Parliament’s standing committee for defence, sent a letter to the panel head, demanding that the military officials be asked to explain before the panel the Chinese incursion and learn how the government was handling it.
