Leader of the House in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Subhash Arya, on Wednesday alleged that the review of the Master Plan of Delhi (MPD) 2021 by the Central government was an ‘eyewash’.

“For a long time, the Central and the Delhi government have been doing nothing about problems of lesser Floor Area Ratio (FAR) and road notification requests, which are important for the regularisation of buildings in the city,” he said.
“The MCD had sent a proposal to the Delhi government to notify 351 roads for commercial and mixed use. However, the government has not notified them, citing that the matter is pending before the Supreme Court. As a result, the sword of demolition is hanging over the shops and their owners operating on these roads,” Arya added.
Arya said while the Central and the Delhi government have been talking about amendments in the MPD 2021, they have taken no interest in correcting the problems.
