Responding to questions on Team Anna’s proposals on the two issues, Khurshid said there was a feeling in some quarters that before introducing the right to recall, managing the right to reject would be more helpful.

“I think the right to reject is a smaller and more manageable idea, but not entirely without problems. The right to recall is a larger and more difficult idea,” Khurshid said.

Without naming Team Anna, Khurshid said those demanding the implementation of the right to recall will have to explain the circumstances and the manner in which elected representatives could be recalled.

The law ministry is set to include the rights to reject and recall in the agenda for an all-party meeting on electoral reforms, scheduled to be held soon.
