RJD MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, who was granted bail in MLA Ajit Sarkar murder case by Patna High Court, was today released from Tihar Jail in the national capital.

“He was released from the jail at around 1.30 pm after his bail bond and papers of surety were received here from the Beur Jail authorities,” Jail authorities said.
Yadav, an MP from Madhepura in Bihar, was granted bail by Patna High Court on Wednesday in the murder case of Purnea CPM MLA Ajit Sarkar, in which he was sentenced to life imprisonment by the court of Additional Sessions Judge, Patna on February 14 last year.
The MP’s bail bond along with two sureties of Rs 10,000 were furnished in the court of ADJ, Patna yesterday on his behalf.
The court had sent Yadav’s release order to the Beur Jail from where it was forwarded to Tihar Jail, where he was lodged.
Yadav, who was earlier lodged in Beur jail in Patna, was shifted to Tihar Jail in 2005 on Supreme Court’s directive, which had also cancelled the bail granted to him by the Patna High Court and ordered his shifting “to prevent him from tampering with evidence and threatening the witness.”
