A new road-under-bridge (RUB) was thrown open for the public by the MCD on Sunday which will help ease the commute between Sarai Kale Khan and Nizamuddin.

Currently, the residents of these areas have to go a long way to reach these localities across the railway track. After inaugurating the bridge, MCD additional commissioner (engineering) Manish Gupta said the project was completed with the railways’ help at a cost of Rs 12 crore. “This RUB will shorten the commute between Sarai Kale Khan and Nizamuddin,” said Gupta.
Former Delhi Mayor Farhad Suri said though a number of objections were raised by various agencies, the bridge’s construction has been completed well in time.
The bridge comprises two boxes measuring 4 meter X 2.5 meter with a length of 50 meters each. The carriage-way is 3.5 metres wide on both sides and the approach road developed towards Nizamuddin side is 96 meters and 72 meters at Sarai Kale Khan side.
