Robotic surgery centre at Fortis

Fortis Escorts Heart Institute formally inaugurated its International Centre for Robotic Surgery (ICRS) on Wednesday. The new facility will focus on minimally-invasive robotic surgery that leads to faster recovery and reduces hospital stay.

Fortis Escorts Heart Institute formally inaugurated its International Centre for Robotic Surgery (ICRS) on Wednesday. The new facility will focus on minimally-invasive robotic surgery that leads to faster recovery and reduces hospital stay.

The hospital, which was the first in the country to acquire the da Vinci robot for heart surgeries, has now acquired the more advanced C-port Flex-A robotic system that will be used in seven specialties, including gynaecology, orthopaedics, general surgery, etc.

“The more advanced the system is, more accurate will be the result. This particular robot has an extra arm that substitutes for an assistant,”said Dr Sudhir Srivastava, founding chairman and managing director, ICRS. HTC
