Unruly Delhi almost cost a 24-year-old mother her leg on Sunday afternoon.

In the second accident inside a Metro station, Shyama Mishra’s leg was caught between the train and the platform while she was trying to disembark with her five-month-old son at New Delhi Metro station, around 3.15 pm.
The victim, her husband and her brother-in-law were on their way from Bathinda to Varanasi.
They had got off the train from Bathinda at Old Delhi station and boarded the Metro to New Delhi.
“The train was too crowded. I kept shouting that I had a child in my arms but no one paid heed to my pleas. While we were trying to get off, a wave of people just pushed me outside. Thank God, I managed to save my child.”
“I pulled her out of the gap just as the train started moving, otherwise she would have lost a leg,” said Vinay Kumar Mishra, her husband.
The woman alleged the station did not have a first-aid kit and she was made to sit for around 45 minutes before Metro staff could arrange for an ambulance to LNJP Hospital.
However, Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal said the delay occurred as there was no response from the ambulance service. He also said a first-aid kit was available at the station but the woman seemingly did not want it.
