The rush to buy and submit application forms may be over, but Delhi University’s dean of student welfare’s office is now the site of another kind of rush: students clamouring to give in forms after the deadline has passed.

Every day since June 19, the last day for the submission of forms, aspirants and their parents come to the office, clutching forms in their hands and requesting officials to make exceptions.

A large number of the aspirants claim that they couldn’t submit forms in time as they were not in the city.

“I had gone to the US and couldn’t hand in my form. I am ready to pay a late fee. I just want a second chance,” said an aspirant desperate to submit his OMR form.

But such explanations do not make sense at a time the varsity accepted online forms -- glitch free -- for 15 days.

DU will not make an exception for anyone who comes in late, no matter the reason, officials said.

But it is not only those who missed the bus to DU but also those who failed to take printouts of their online forms that are flocking to the varsity. This printout has to be shown to the college while taking admissions.

“I thought I would take the printout later but the admissions link is not there anymore. I have no idea what to do now,” said Raghav Malik, an applicant.
