Over 14 years after two Nepalese women were allegedly assaulted and raped inside a police station here, a Delhi court has acquitted seven people, including three policemen, in the case, as police failed to bring the victims to testify.

“...the prosecution has failed to produce victims and public witnesses who were the main witnesses of the case, who could depose about the incidents. Thus, it has failed to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt,” Additional Sessions Judge Shalinder Kaur said.
The judge termed as “unfortunate” and “sad” that despite the court direction that victims should be served with summons through senior officers, including the Police Commissioner, the prosecution did not succeed in producing them for recording their statements.
