The crime branch of the Delhi Police claim to have arrested a sharpshooter, who is involved in over 20 cases of murder, kidnapping and robbery and is a close aide of Shahabuddin, former MP of Siwan, Bihar.

“Aftab Alam had killed 20 people during his era of criminal activities,” said the police. The police have also recovered a sophisticated weapon with ammunition from him.
“He was a close associate of Shahabuddin. Alam has not been arrested after 1998,” said Ashok Chand, DCP (crime).
Alam, 33, was arrested from the Old Delhi railway station after the police received a tip-off about his presence.
A 9 mm pistol and four live cartridges were recovered from his possession. “During interrogation he disclosed that he began his criminal career in 1990 — at the age of 14 years — with a robbery. In 1998-99, he became a close associate, aide and sharpshooter of Shahabuddin. After coming under the patronage of Shahabuddin he committed murders either at his instance or for taking revenge against his old rivals,” Chand added.
