Sheila asks MLAs to take pay cuts

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today issued an advisory proposing a 20 per cent salary cut for state ministers and legislators.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday issued an advisory proposing a 20 per cent salary cut for state ministers and legislators.

"I call for 20 per cent salary cuts of all Delhi ministers and legislative members as an effort to save money," Dikshit told reporters in New Delhi.

The move comes after a call by the Indian government to observe austerity.

However, Dikshit said that this is a voluntary move and not mandatory for the legislators.
