Exactly a week after HT highlighted the plight of accident victims who were left to the mercy of ill-equipped trauma centres, Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit called a marathon meeting of all government hospital heads seeking a status report of emergency care within ten days.

"Headed by the principal health secretary (Anshu Prakash), the committee should submit a report of all the fallacies in the existing medical system within 10 days. We want to take immediate action to rectify the deficiencies," said Dikhit.
"The hospital heads should look into individual patient complaints and rectify them at the earliest. Patient satisfaction should be on top on their priority," she said.
The chief minister also enhanced the hospital maintenance funds from the existing Rs. 5 crore to Rs. 10 crore.
