Shooting range, swimming pool at Hans Raj

Hans Raj College, which gives emphasis to sports and extra curricular activities, has built an electronic shooting range at Rs 2.5 lakh.

“Hans Raj is the only college in Delhi University to have such a modern shooting facility,” said S.R. Arora, principal. The shooting range can detect the reason for a missed shot and records the shooter’s blood pressure and details like angle of a shot. Navin Jindal, Member of Parliament and also an ex-student, inaugurated the sporting facility.

He donated a shooting rifle and pistol to the college that sets aside five per cent of its seats under sports and extra curricular activities. The college’s badminton courts are also being given a complete makeover.

“They will be ready by the time the college reopens,” Arora said. The college is also planning a swimming pool. If the plan takes off, it will be the first co-education institute after Sri Ram College of Commerce to have such a facility. “We have submitted a proposal, but the project will take time,” Arora said.
