Soon, get 'tatkal' trade licences in east Delhi

Under the scheme, traders and foodstall owners can just pay a special fee and get a temporary licence approval valid for three months, during which the corporation officials will conduct an inspection and issue a permanent one.

On Monday, at a standing committee meeting, commissioner of the East Delhi Municipal Corporation SS Yadav said the new system will be in place within a week. "This is specifically being done to make the process people-friendly and to provide relief from the so called 'inspector raaj'. People usually have a lot of complaints and we want to make the process as smooth as possible," Yadav said.

According to him, the fee will be double of the normal license fee. Traders who want to avail of the tatkal licence will have to pay Rs 1,500 instead of the normal Rs 750.

"One has to just submit an application and all the necessary documents which will guarantee a temporary licence across the counter. The health committee officials will conduct an inspection within three months," Yadav said.
