South corp to start work on Najafgarh hub

According to sources in the corporation, the process of hiring a consultant for the herbal garden and ayurvedic hospital is nearly complete.

Work on the herbal garden is expected to start in July during the monsoon while the ayurvedic health hub will be made functional by September using “temporary structures”.

The civic body has earmarked Rs.75 crore for the project, which also includes an ayurvedic college, and constructions of a waste recycle plant and a stadium.

A source in the civic body said the herbal garden and ayurvedic hospital were on top on the priority list and will be finished within four-odd months.

“The consultant for this project will be on board in a few days and the project will kick off soon. The work on the herbal garden cannot start before July as we have to wait for the monsoon. However, the ayurvedic hospital will be started with temporary structures by September,” he said.

He added that though the project is still in planning phase, it will be given shape at a very rapid pace once initiated.

Standing committee chairman in the south civic body Rajesh Gehlot told Hindustan Times that the layout plan for the project was being prepared and the facilities would start within four months.

“The whole project will take time to get completed. However, we will make the ayurvedic hospital functional soon after setting up an out patients department with 10-odd rooms. The grounds for the stadium will also be functional in 2-3 months,” Gehlot said, adding that the civic body has a lot of space for development in the rural areas under its jurisdiction and thereby Ghoomanhera was selected to house the first ayurvedic hospital in South Delhi.
