SP to contest Haryana polls in alliance with BSP(KR)

SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, while announcing the alliance, told reporters that an agreement on the number of seats to be contested by both the parties in the state would be finalised by Friday.

There are 90 Assembly seats in Haryana and the state goes to polls on October 13.

"We are having discussions with BSP(KR) on seat sharing, which would be finalised by Friday. We would be giving a serious fight to Congress and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) in the state. Our aim would be to win a significant number of seats so that we remain politically relevant in the state," Yadav said.

Flanked by BSP(KR)'s Haryana in-charge Kanta Agaria and SP Haryana chief Ramphal Yadav, Mulayam Singh said Agaria was with SP earlier also but he left it to form BSP(KR).

"We want our alliance to emerge as a strong unit in Haryana and the NCR region," the SP chief said.
