CM inaugurates semi-open prison at Tihar

With an aim to "mould" thinking of prisoners towards "positive" activities, first semi-open prison was opened at Tihar Jail complex today.

With an aim to "mould" thinking of prisoners towards "positive" activities, first semi-open prison was opened at Tihar Jail complex on Tuesday.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated the semi open prison, which currently has 20 inmates.

Dikshit also inaugurated ‘beauty culture centre’ at Tihar’s Central Prison No 6, known as women jail, to train women inmates in beauty courses. The inmates will be awarded certificate without mentioning the place of training to facilitate their employment after release .

The prisoners with track record of good conduct and are physically and mentally fit have been selected for the new prison.
