Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, hosted a special assembly to mark the beginning of the new academic session. The event began with an invocation dance followed by a bhajan by the school choir. The school principal, MI Hussain, welcomed and introduced Her Holiness Gurumaa as a contemporary spiritual master who helps people to grow spiritually and enables self realisation. The principal quoted her as saying, “Life is simple, we complicate it”, and “Meditation is a state of being”. The spiritual leader urged the students to strengthen their mind; be a part of active learning and receptive. She engaged in a lively interaction with students and enthralled the audience with a soulful song. K Kathuria, the vice-principal, gave the vote of thanks.
Sachdeva Global School, Sector 18, Dwarka, received the second-best school award in the “change-makers” category in the annual Green School Programme (GSP) awards held recently organised by the Centre for Science and Environment. The school received the silver badge for its exemplary performance in the GSP at the state level from the Chief Minister of Delhi, Sheila Dixit, and the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Forest, BMS Rathore. Headmistress Dr. Amita Saxena, along with teachers and students, received the award.
Pre-primary students of Delhi Public School, Noida, staged their annual oroduction "Jashn-e-Hindustan". The event was an attempt to showcase the common thread of 'unity in diversity'. The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by the welcome address by the principal, Kamini Bhasin. The highlight of the show was the Northeastern bamboo dance. Ashok Chandra, chairman, DPSS, Dr Mahesh Sharma, MLA Noida, and Prof. BP Khandelwal, member, DPS Society, were present. Applauding the school for the meaningful presentation, Ashok Chandra said, “The school was successful in providing the foundation that parents wants to instill in their children.”
A four-day event aiming at stimulating the creative potential of youngsters was held from recently. Three students of Bal Bharati Public School, Dwarka, of Class X, Shreya Gandhi, Kamakshi Raina and Apoorva Behl along with Tathagata Dutta attended the same. Inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik , the British Council Young Global Citizens' Summit-2012 was attended by 115 schools across the country. The highlight of the summit was an array of stimulating workshops from British Council’s partner organisations . The camp culminated with visit of the “young global citizens” to an International Sand Art Festival.
