Steep bills: discoms run down each other

According to BSES, 24 per cent of NDPL consumers witnessed a hike of over 50 per cent in their electricity bills, against 22.2 per cent of BSES Rajdhani Power limited (BRPL) customers and 21.4 per cent BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) customers.

NDPL rubbished the claim. “We didn’t encounter any software-related problem, unlike BSES. We haven’t sent wrong bills to our customers. We have not received complaints from our customers about inflated bills. The subsidy provided by Delhi government has expired so, naturally, there will be an increase in the bills for a number of customers,” said a spokesperson of NDPL.

BSES further claimed that while it had provided details of all its consumers to the government, NDPL has provided details of only 4.98 lakh consumers although it had 10.65 lakh consumers.
