While you make your way to Delhi University (DU), you can mingle with students of other colleges, and indulge in some learning activities at the same time. Initiated and run by students, there are many forums in DU, which give freshers an opportunity to explore and hone their skills in writing, photography, management and much more. Here’s a look at five such forums, where one can have fun and also gain some useful experience.

AIESEC
It’s popular for its adventurous international student exchange programs and internship programs, giving one a chance to intern around the world or run one’s own social development program. “My internship in Egypt was a life-changing experience,” says Ahsaas Chawla, a second year student of DTU.
How to be a member: You will have to clear three rounds — a group discussion, team activity and a personal interview.

DU Beat
Best known for their column ‘Sex Amma’, DU Beat is an independent student newspaper started by Kriti Gupta (LSR) in 2007. Apply for it if writing is your forte. From write-ups about the favourite hangout zones, events, sports, courses to serious issues faced by the students in the university, DUB covers it all. “We get a chance to meet like-minded, energetic people and work with them. It’s informal yet professional atmosphere gives them a chance to express themselves,” says Ishika Mookerjee of DUB.
How to be a member: Send in your CV to the DUB recruitment department and they will get in touch with you if you are shortlisted.

Youth Ki Awaaz
If there’s an activist and a writer in you, and you wish to share your opinions with others, YKA is perfect for you. Launched in 2008, it’s “an online platform for young people to express themselves on issues of importance,” says its founder and editor-in-chief, Anshul Tiwari.
How to become a member: All you need to do is log in to their website and start submitting your contributions. Or you can join their 8 week ‘work from home’ program.

The Alumni Fraternity
Heard of alumni societies in schools? DU is not far behind. This fraternity is to help you connect with your mates. With TAF Bazaar, a privilege gateway, you can access discounts on an assortment of brands across the country. Try your hand at writing for their monthly alumni centric publication - The Alumni Fraternity Times. “There’s a National Leader’s Forum (NLF). It’s great fun,” says Kunal Arora a TAF member.
How to be a member: Forms are distributed by college representatives every year. Fill and submit them and you can be called for an interview.
