Sugar subsidy to continue in Delhi

More than 3.6 lakh poor families will continue to get sugar at a subsidised rate of Rs 13.50 per kg through ration shops in Delhi.

More than 3.6 lakh poor families will continue to get sugar at a subsidised rate of Rs 13.50 per kg through ration shops in Delhi.

The Centre has stopped sugar supplies following decontrol of the sector. States are now supposed to buy sugar from the open market. The difference between the public distribution system price and the ex-mill price will be given by the Centre as subsidy to states.
