At 18.1 degrees Celsius, the maximum temperature was a just a couple of degrees lower than normal —as opposed to seven-eight degrees lower two days ago.

The minimum temperature, which had been hovering above the ‘normal’ mark, too, came down to 5.6 degrees Celsius.

“The cold day conditions have abated,” said the Duty Officer at the Safdarjung observatory of the Met department. “The night temperatures will fall now.”

The day, however, began with fog in the morning. The IGI airport had to implement CAT-III at the new Runway 29 as visibility dipped to 50 meters for a few hours. “A few flights were rescheduled and delayed. The runway visual range also kept fluctuating,” said a senior airport official.

Although the situation improved later, Runway 28 had CAT-I initiated for a few hours due to poor visibility.

“We expect dense fog early Thursday,” said a senior official at the Palam observatory of the Met department.

“With the cloud cover gone, winter was fun again,” said Tenzin Tsering, a DU student who stays in Satya Niketan in South Delhi.
