Anita Murari, 50, wife of the director of Lady Hardinge Medical College, died of suspected dengue haemorrhagic fever here. Dengue haemorrhagic fever is a severe, potentially deadly infection spread by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. While most patients recover, small fraction of affected people who go into shock do not survive.
“Preliminary investigations looks like dengue haemorrhagic fever case. If confirmed, this will be the fourth death case in the city,” said V K Monga, chairman of MCD health committee.
“She was first taken to the LHMC hospital on October 11 and then to BL Kapoor hospital where she died,” he said.
Twelve new cases of dengue were reported from different hospitals in the city.
