‘Suspicious bag’ triggers bomb scare at New Delhi station

The police got an anonymous call saying that there might be an explosive inside the bag.

“A bomb detection and disposal squad rushed to the spot and the pre-paid booking area for radio taxis was evacuated as a precautionary measure . But only papers and some currency notes were found in the bag,” said BK Shukla, chief station manager.

“A possible ticking sound in the bag caused suspicion. But nothing was found in it,” he said.

According to the police, three taxi-drivers saw him keeping the bag at a parking lot and leaving at 10:40 am. They caught him and informed the police.

“The foreigner identified himself as Martin, a Nigerian national. We will verify his credentials. He has not shown any passport or identity proof,” said DCP (crime and railways) S K Jain.

However, the investigating officer said that the detained man seems to be a member of black dollar racket, who cheats people on the pretext of giving money as lottery.
