Chief public prosecutor Anita Hooda read e-mail communications between Javed Baraich, a Pakistan national and commander of Harkat-ul-Jehadi Islami (HUJI) and Arshad Khan, a key accused in the case, to drive home the point that they were in touch with each other.

The prosecutor has also referred to around 70 e-mail communications among the alleged HUJI terrorists to the court of Additional Sessions Judge Pinki.

"They were in constant touch with their Pakistan-based handlers to execute the plot to abduct cricketers," she said.

In one of the e-mails, accused Arshad Khan, named as 'Didi', has sought financial help from his Pakistan-based handlers for carrying out the nefarious designs, she said. The militants wanted to abduct the cricketers for securing the release of two jailed HUJI terrorists, Nasarullah Langrial and Abdul Rahim, who were lodged in jails in New Delhi, she said.

Besides planning to kidnap the cricketers, the six accused, including three Pakistanis, had planned to attack Bhaba Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in Mumbai and kill APJ Abdul Kalam, the then scientific advisor to Defence ministry, during his visit to Patna in 2002.
