The lab aims at a more transparent and credible testing of meters booked under power theft. The lab will exclusively cater to meters booked by the enforcement team for meter tampering and power theft.

The lab has been established by Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) in association with Electrical and Development Association (ERDA) which was jointly established by electricity utilities, government of India and Gujarat government.

"This initiative is aimed to dispel any misconstrued notions that any consumer may have regarding credibility of testing of meters," said Praveer Sinha, chief executive officer and executive director, TPDDL.
