Less than a week after Shyam Saran, Prime Minister's Special Envoy on Climate Change quit office, reportedly over differences with environment minister Jairam Ramesh, the latter on Wednesday admitted that there might have been some differences in perception.

"There was a difference in style and perception. I am a political person. He is a bureaucrat. It is my job to set the policy. The bureaucracy can't dictate policy. They are participants, they are part of us. I am not a rubber stamp to the bureaucracy," said Ramesh while interacting with journalists at the Indian Women's Press Corps. Ramesh said at the end it was he who would had to face Parliament.
On whether he approached the Prime Minister with these differences, Ramesh said, “Did I tell the Prime Minister that he (Saran) had to go? No. I did not even discuss the issue with the Prime Minister. I had nothing to do with his (Saran’s) decision (to quit).”
