This rickshaw-puller averted major tragedy

Had I not done that, they would have on kept firing and would have killed some people," said Mohammad Salim (27), a rickshaw puller who was ferrying two foreigners at the time of incident. When the firing started the foreigners fled on foot.

Salim has now emerged as a key witness in the case along with a police constable-Pramod Kumar who chased the bikers on foot. None of the two could note down the registration number of the motorcycle.

"None of them had helmets on. While one of them was in a green T-shirt, the other one was wearing a raincoat and had a black backpack on him. The one sitting behind fired at the tourist bus with a small weapon.

During the firing it got jammed and then he tried to whip out a sten gun from the backpack, when they saw people running after them they fled towards Chawri Bazaar,” said Salim.

Kumar who was patrolling the area chased the accused bikers who even fired at him. "The policeman could not note down the complete registration number of the bike ," said a senior police officer.
