The victim’s family has announced a cash reward of Rs. 25,000 to anybody who helps them identify the errant driver.

Parth Bajpai, a resident of Lajpat Nagar-I, was crossing the road on the BRT near the Lajpat Nagar metro station when a speeding Innova, probably attached to a BPO, ran over him on April 2 around 7.30 pm. Bajpai’s family donated his organs to AIIMS after the autopsy.

Bajpai’s parents have alleged that officers of the local Lajpat Nagar police station have not been showing any interest in identifying the Innova or bringing its errant driver to book.

They claimed that even as several CCTV cameras are installed on the BRT corridor, close to the accident spot, the police made no effort to check the captured footage of those cameras. Senior police officers, however, claimed that they had tried to access footage of at least three-four CCTV cameras, but none of them were functional.
