The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the last day of 2007 may be the season’s coldest with minimum temperature dipping to 3 degrees Celsius.
In meteorological parlance this is called “cold wave condition” — when the minimum temperature dips to four degrees below normal (which now should be 7 degrees Celsius). “Delhi may experience near cold wave conditions during the next 24 to 48 hours,” said S.C. Bhan, director, IMD.
The IMD director, however, added that in the next 24 hours, daytime is likely to be sunny with the maximum temperature hovering between 21 and 22 degrees Celsius. Those planning to fly out of the city on Monday need not panic as the minimum visibility could be around 500 metres during early morning hours, IMD added.
