According to experts, the decision would have an impact on the power supply.

Residents had to put up with load-shedding for almost 12 hours daily last summer.

If the project had taken off, it would have enhanced the power distribution in the city.

The project involved installation of 70 towers on a 24-km stretch from Sector-56 to Sector-72.

This technology, with multi-circuit transmission lines on a single tower, is used in metro cities.

“Two circuits of 220-KVA will connect Sector-51 and 56 sub-stations, while the other two of 66 KVA will connect Sector-51 and 20 sub-stations,” said Rajesh Gupta, superintending engineer, Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN).

Besides, delay in the completion of Sector-20 sub-station is another setback to the HVPN. “The main reason for the delay of Sector-20 sub-station is space crunch. These towers require large space. And some people are not allowing work on their land,” said Gupta.
