Heavy rain lashed the Capital on Monday, lowering down temperatures and also causing waterlogging and traffic snarls in several areas. Traffic was affected at several places such as ITO, Mehrauli, Laxmi Nagar, CP, Ring Road, Ashram and Dwarka.

The civic authorities had to even shut down the INA flyover towards AIIMS due to waterlogging. The three municipal corporations received 15 complaints of waterlogging from Kalkaji, Green Park, Khanna Market and Rohini among others. Five cases of tree falling and three cases of partial wall collapse were also registered.
Waterlogging was also reported from Lajpat Nagar, Ashram, Nizamuddin, Aurobindo Marg, Yusuf Sarai, Dhaula Kuan, Lado Sarai, Africa Avenue, IIT, Qutub Minar and Pul Prahlad Pur.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 34.5 degree Celsius, one degree above normal and up from yesterday's 32.9 degrees, while the minimum was recorded at 26 degrees. Till 5.30pm, the Safdarjung Met Department had received 0.6 mm rainfall. The humidity hovered between 65 and 97 per cent.
The city has been receiving heavy rain for the past one week that has washed away civic authorities' tall claims of monsoon preparedness and drain desilting.
